Welcome to Simple Changes

Our mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities, their families and community through exceptional programs, especially equine assisted activities.  We are located in Northern Virginia.

Dear Simple Changes family,

It is with great sadness that we write to tell you that we had to say goodbye to Comet on Saturday.

Her body had aged rapidly, a severe foot infection struck, and we simply couldn’t keep her comfortable anymore. It was her time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

Comet has been with us for ten years.  She touched so many lives.  She was the one we could always count on. We never had to worry about her rider, we knew Comet would take care of them and keep them safe.

Many tears have been shed and we miss her terribly. But her life was one to celebrate, to remember. On that note we will have her stall open for the next week of lessons for anyone who wants to leave her a little something. A note, a picture, flowers or just a thought. We will take a few minutes at the beginning of each lesson to go to her stall and give the riders their time to say goodbye. This will be a hard week for us all but it will be joyous to remember the many lives she touched.

Go in peace Comet, your work here is done. We will never forget you.

Jenny and Corliss

PS.  For those who are interested, we have started a memorial fund in Comet‘s name to help us find our next great horse. Click here to donate to Comet’s memorial fund.
