Simple Changes is fueled by volunteer energy. Some riders need as many as three helpers to ride safely.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and be able to walk briskly for two to three hours at a time.

At our Lorton facility we hold lessons Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and Monday and Saturday mornings. In Catlett, lessons are typically held on Tuesday afternoons.

We require that volunteers commit to coming once a week during one of the lesson times. Each daily set of lessons lasts from 2.5 to 3.5 hours.

Volunteering at Simple Changes is about helping individuals with disabilities. Horse experience is welcome, but not required. We are happy to train volunteers to assist individuals with disabilities and to work with the horses.

Please read the Volunteer Manual and Job Description for details about volunteering.

Volunteer forms may be scanned and emailed to simplechanges@hotmail.com, sent by mail to P.O. Box 991, Lorton, VA 22199, or faxed to 703-372-2625.

Please contact us at info@simplechanges.org or 703.402.3613 if you have questions about volunteering.
